ITEA 3 Call 3 (16040 Personal Health Empowerment)
Rising costs of healthcare due to the ageing population and related increase of non-communicative diseases urges for finding ways to save expenses by diminishing the need for care and making the current care more efficient. Current care provision is reactive and process driven, treating patients according to predefined pathways with limited possibilities to take into account the individual needs or abilities. Health authorities and care providers are finally noticing the one resource that had remained unused – the person or patient him/herself! By starting with the primary need of the person – to be healthy – and including him/her into the process in an active role, new paradigms for care become possible. Significant cost reductions can be achieved by preventive solutions to help the person adopt a healthy lifestyle – thus reducing the number of patients – and by providing the person with tools to actively participate in the treatment when diseases do arise – thus decreasing the burden on care personnel.
ITEA 3 Call 4 (17039 XIVT)
Within the XIVT (pronounced “shift”) project, a method and toolchain will be defined for testing highly configurable, variant-rich embedded systems in the automotive, rail, industrial production and telecommunication domains. This enables a highly effective, cost-efficient quality assurance, allowing the shift to autonomous, flexible and adaptive applications in these domains. Base of the method is a knowledge-based analysis of requirements formulated in natural language, and a model-based test generation on the product-line level. The XIVT project will result in modules and open-source packets for the enhancement of existing domain-specific testing tools, a reference implementation of the resulting method and toolchain, and an ecosystem of services around the proposed methodology.
ITEA 3 Call 4 (17020 POLDER)
Recent advances in technology, from wireless sensor networks to big data processing and analysis, are radically changing our cities, by introducing new services for the citizens, and improving existing ones both in terms of efficiency and reduced costs. Urban policy making is a fundamental aspect of such transformation and can benefit from such emerging technologies with new supporting tools and optimized processes. Currently though, policy-making is not benefiting from these developments. This will be addressed in the POLDER project.
The goal of the POLDER project is to design, develop, and deploy a software tool-suite to support governments in the elicitation, design, application and validation of policy making, while providing services to related third parties as well to make the business model viable. Therefore, the market addressed consists of (smart) cities, and urban service providers in domains like logistics, health, energy, and other smart services. The ITEA POLDER project proposes a hybrid policy-making model, where policy is made data-driven, model-driven and society-driven.
ITEA 3 Call 4 (17022 COSIBAS)
COSIBAS targets the next step in IoT-based applications and solutions, namely the integration of semantic and cognitive AI technologies. The Digital Transformation in the industrial domain is currently limited to the connectivity of devices, machines, tools, workers etc. The amount of data is rising and requires a sophisticated interpretation through analytics to generate business value in terms of faster detection, better forecasts, and improved decisions with an overall increased flexibility. Current IoT-stacks are frequently focused on handling of data or data streams – semantic properties and semantic descriptions or ontologies which can be utilized by cognitive services are generally missing.
COSIBAS focuses on existing IoT-technologies to create an open, standardized approach to define and develop cognitive enablers and cognitive services augmenting the IoT-stack. Enablers provide additional semantic descriptions or can translate semantic information into IoT-data. Depending on the capability of involved IT-structures, this may contain approaches like SDM leading to CEMs. Based on these enabling factors, cognitive services will be able to interpret and evaluate the status of the whole system to build and transact on a cognitive model, which is the basis for the interaction with the human blue and white-collar workforce providing cognitive assistants, decision-support as well as to support intelligent mechanisms to enable seamless interoperability respecting semantic. Due to the high complexity of such scenarios COSIBAS will rely on existing IoT-technologies and standards (e.g. FIWARE) and evolve existing semantic and cognitive technologies into a set of enablers and services based on proven elements of AI approaches and components. As such, COSIBAS utilizes knowledge-trees, ontology languages, and inference & rule engines in order to create accurate models and implementations to enhance IoT-related systems. Standardized management of the cognitive-APIs will ensure high reuse and marketability.
Software Development Governance (SDG) has wide importance for the achievements of companies working on compact software projects. SDGear is a project that has abilities to provide a well-defined, adaptable, repeatable and efficient Software Development Management platform as a service with cloud technologies rather than existing Software Management applications.
